See you tomorrow?
No New Things comes out tomorrow. And there are lots of ways to celebrate with me!
Firstly, my apologies for the first-post-and-then-nada-for-a-month situation. If you follow me on Instagram, I explained how life be lifin’ and quite literally after I hit ‘send’ on the last (and first) post, my mother went into the hospital for some very serious stuff, in another state, and I spent a week+ with her there (she’s so much better now - grateful!). Then, I came back to Chicago to move apartments. And following all that, there was the frenzy of the book launch (more on that in a sec), reuniting three found and in-distress doggies with their owners, a broken fridge, a plague of ants…you get the idea. And you’re probably dealing with your own version of these (hopefully not the first part). But anyway, that’s the explanation for why, like a bad Tinder date, I’m popping back into your inbox after a month of being a ghost.
April 15th used to be the day Americans sweat themselves silly over taxes being due (just me?). But now, you can replace that worry with the wonders of underconsumption, because my latest book, No New Things, officially comes out - and there’s lots of fun stuff in the works to trumpet its arrival.
Tuesday, April 15th:
On TV: If you’re the television-watchin’ type, I’ll be on Kelly & Mark (check your local listings) talking about the book and giving viewers a mini No New Things 5-day Challenge they can sink their teeth into. PS - barring a wardrobe malfunction, I will be #outfitrepeating this red suit from my first K&M appearance in 2022, just with a few tweaks!
In Person: If you’re in NYC, I invite you to join me at the launch event at P&T Knitwear, an awesome independent store, at 6:30pm. The event will be moderated by badass author, TV personality, and friend, Katie Horwitch, and the whole thing is basically free. You can RSVP here and I’d love to see you!
Media Coverage:
If you’re the read-and-listen type, there’s been some wonderful coverage, for which I’m so appreciative, to get you amped for No New Things (and mad at the conditioned consumerism).
Listen: I was fortunate enough to chat with the wonderful Diane Boden on the Clear Intentions (formerly the Minimalist Moms) Podcast, and boy howdy, was it a great chat. You can listen wherever you listen to things.
Read: Erin over at Olives for Dinner generously wrote about my vegan-to-sustainability pipeline, and Entrepreneur did a really lovely piece on the origin of No New Things, and they sure didn’t bury the lede with the headline lol.
Review: Lastly, I’d be remiss if I didn't 1) thank all the folks who’ve preordered or are considering ordering any version of the book. I recognize that a book is very much a ‘new thing,’ but hopefully you feel it lends oodles of utility and rizz to your life and there are loads of non-thing versions and ways to check the book out, as well. 2) mention how important Amazon and GoodReads reviews are (the GR reviews have been pretty positive, considering folks receive an uncorrected proof to peruse, but a few people gave me a stinky rating because the book has some ‘curse words’ in it, so feel free to counter those if you feel so moved). So, yeah, if you like the book, please say so with a positive review. Speaking of positive reviews, Katie Couric called No New Things ‘transformational,’ so there’s that.
I never expected this to become a book. I really made it so because so many people who’d done an abridged version of the Challenge (like, thousands of y’all so far) asked for more comprehensive guidance in the form of a book. And I poured a lot of your suggestions and my heart into this. I genuinely feel it can help so many people, and I hope you love it.
Major gratitude to all of you who’ve been on this journey with me. Thank you. Now, let’s party!
I am loving the book!!! Can’t wait to put in action (on day 2 right now).
👏👏 Hip, hip, hooray!!! Congrats on an epic launch week, can't wait to dive in!
